New Brunswick's miles of Atlantic coast are home to a vast array of marine life. Children aged seven to 12 can join scientists at an aquarium research facility for the day to learn about the sea's biology, and to see, smell and even touch sea creatures. Each child will take water samples and transport fragile sea life to specially prepared homes. Part of the day-long aqua adventure includes combing the nearby beach for samples, so bring your rubber boots! Experienced instructors will guide children through information sharing and hands-on learning so they understand sea creatures as they are: spiny, slippery, salty… even tasty! At the end of the day they get their Biologist Training Program certificate which makes a wonderful souvenir, but the healthy (and delicious!) lunch is also pretty cool. 5-hour program offered Tuesdays and Thursdays in English and French.(weather permitting) 100, De l’Aquarium Street, Shippagan

Beginning in the Interpretation Centre, an expert instructor will introduce hands-on exhibits and answer questions. Once outside, the group will explore the park to learn more about the animals, plants, fish and trees that are found there. At the fish cage, the species can be observed and touched, and children who wish to do so can provide newly learned facts to other visitors. What a way to learn! A souvenir certificate and photo will cap off this special day.
