Village Historique Acadien!Experience L’ACADIE! Smells, noises, activities from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries are always present on the historical site of the VHA. Experience the daily lives of the Acadians, visit their houses, farms, general stores…and meet the bilingual interpreters along the way. With its 50 historical buildings, you will spend a full day, have lunch in a traditional restaurant, enjoy a dinner theatre and even spend the night! A plus to your visit, your admission ticket is always good for two days. New in 2011The Thériault General Store located in the 20th century section of the VHA is unique. Not only are the contents on exhibit, they can also be purchased, making it one of the rare stores on an historic site in North America. Various items are for sale, including square nails, flour, porcelain dolls, and cast iron frying pans. On June 12th, official inauguration of the replica of the first Caisse populaire acadienne. Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Incorporation of Caraquet! Sunday July 10th is a day to commemorate and highlight the founders of the VHA. This day will be a chance to visit back-scenes decors and work-shops.
Take it all in and spend the night at the Hotel Château Albert and enjoy a lively Acadian dinner theatre. Plus, kids are more than welcome at the Village. Give your kids a memorable Acadian gift with the summer camp Children of the Village. This camp will offer them the possibility to spend the day or more in traditional costumes, eat an Acadian meal and they will even take a group portrait as a souvenir. New Brunswick Aquarium and Marine CentreHave you touched a blue lobster lately? Ecological Park of the Acadian PeninsulaDiscover a place of unspoiled beauty, where the lushness of the plants and trees is left untouched. A place where wildlife is nurtured and protected; A place where you can roam the trails in solitude or with a guide and experience the wonder of nature at this Attraction in the Acadian Peninsula. The "Eco-Parc" is an incredible complex. Start at the Interpretation Centre, observation tower, the footbridge and the boardwalk, which stretches out across an estuary and into the forest. Stop at the lookout along the way and use the telescope to do a little bird watching. The trail you're following crosses an arboretum where you'll see about 30 species native to the area. Miscou LighthouseRemote is the word to describe this heritage structure. The Miscou Island Lighthouse was built in 1856 at the very tip of the northeastern part of the province, located on Chaleur Bay, member of the "Most Beautiful Bays in the World Club". The original wooden octagonal tower is still in use, equipped with a third-order Fresnel lens. This lighthouse stands guard over the wild beauty of Miscou Island. Explore the windswept, sandy beaches while watching for birds and other forms of wildlife. This area is also known for its peat bogs - an important industry in this area. Popes MuseumA must see attraction! Île-aux-foins ParkTourist park that includes interpretation signs, a lighthouse, boardwalks, a picnic area, a beach, a bird-watching tower, trails, a playground, a floating wharf, a changing room and washrooms. A day park only, it is located on a small island that can be reached by a bridge. In the area, you will discover more than 250 species of local and migratory birds. From the observation tower, you will be able to see the great blue heron and many other species.
